Life’s now more delicious and simple! My hubby adores this 5-ingredient marvel.
Hamburger and Potato Casserole
Ingredients:
- Ground beef: 1 pound
- Onion (medium, chopped): 1
- Potatoes (medium, thinly sliced): 3-4
- Salt: To taste
- Pepper :To taste
- Cheddar cheese (shredded): 1/4 cup
- Cream of mushroom or chicken soup (reduced): 10.5 oz can
- Milk: 1/2 cup
- Sour cream: 1/2 cup
- Optional: dried herbs, paprika As desired
How To Make Hamburger and Potato Casserole:
Step 1: Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Prepare the Ground Beef: Cook the ground beef and chopped onion in a pan over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
Step 3: Make the Creamy Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix the sour cream, milk, and condensed cream of mushroom or chicken soup until smooth and well combined.
Step 4: Assemble the Casserole: In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, begin layering:
Start with a layer of thinly sliced potatoes.
Top with a layer of the cooked ground beef mixture.
Spread a layer of the creamy sauce.
Repeat layers (potatoes, beef, sauce) until the ingredients are used, ending with a layer of potatoes and sauce.
Step 5: Top with Cheese and Bake: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the casserole. Optionally, add paprika or dried herbs for extra flavor. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the topping is golden and bubbly.
Step 6: Serve: Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving for easier slicing and handling.
