Why Do You Need To Clean The Toothbrush Holder?

The answer is yes, even cleaning them every week. Because in fact, a toothbrush holder is one of the most germ-bearing items in your home. Think of it this: Your mouth is filled with bacteria, food clippings you clean on your teeth. Your hands are also loaded with bacteria, and you use them to grip your brush handle.

After brushing your teeth, you will usually store the brush neatly in the drawer. However, the brush tip is generally still wet, with water dripping down to the handle – accumulating and slowly settling on the cup’s bottom.

Besides, a bathroom is always a humid place, which is the perfect growth condition for many microorganisms. This means that the brush holder can be a box full of germs. Every time you touch it, you feel thousands of bacteria.

Still not convinced? Think what if a cockroach, ant, fly, or any bug accidentally falls on the holder? The lower part of the compartment may be filled with corpses you won’t even see. Not surprisingly, these insects are known to carry diseases and can spread disease.

Use A Mouthwash

Mouthwash is an excellent option for cleaning the toothbrush holder, as it contains antibacterial ingredients.

Fill a bowl with a cup or two of mouthwash. Then, soak the toothbrush holder in the mouthwash for one to two minutes. Make sure that the container is completely immersed in water.
You can also pour the mouthwash directly into the toothbrush holder and let it sit for one to two minutes to clean the contents of the can.
Clean the container
First, take out the mouthwash container. Use a crown brush or pipe cleaner to scrub the inside of the holder. Remember to rub against the sides and corners of the box, both inside and out. You can also use a straw cleaner if you don’t have a small brush or line cleaner.

After you have finished cleaning the holder, rinse it under running water. Shake the water around the holder a few times to remove the mouthwash and any remaining residue. Next, Use warm water or rinse the holder.

Let the container dry in the air.
Once you have rinsed the holder, leave the container in the air, and stand upside down on a clean towel to absorb water. Ideally, let the box dry overnight.

Use Vinegar

Place the toothbrush holder in the white vinegar solution.
Using a mixture of water and white vinegar can be the right choice. Pour the solution into a bowl and immerse the container in the solution for about one to two minutes. If you want to clean the box’s inside, you can pour the white vinegar solution directly into the holder.

Clean the holder
Once you’ve soaked, remove the can from the white vinegar solution. Then, use a pipe cleaner or a brush to scrub both the inside and outside the box. Make sure you have thoroughly scrubbed all corners and sides of the toothbrush holder. You will have to rinse them under warm water a few times to get them really clean. This will also remove any residue and vinegar in the drawer.

Let dry overnight
When you have finished scouring the containers, place them upside down on the stand or a clean, dry towel. Finally, wait to let it dry overnight.

Put In The Dishwasher

Before placing it in the dishwasher for cleaning, thoroughly rinse the toothbrush holder in warm water. Shake the can in the water a few times to rinse it off. This will help soften stubborn and dry residues in the container, making it easier for your machine to clean.

Place the toothbrush holder in the dishwasher.
Put the toothbrush holder in the dishwasher. Even if it contains other items, leave it running on a gentle and regular cycle. This will help you to clean the holder and remove dirt very well.

Note that your dishwasher is safe before placing the container in it. To be sure, the toothbrush holders should be durable enough to be used in a dishwasher, mostly if they are made of metal or ceramic.

Clean the toothbrush holder weekly

The best way to keep your toothbrush holder free of bacteria, make yourself a habit of cleaning them once a week. If you don’t have a lot of cleaning time, put them in the dishwasher to be cleaned for you. If you work hard like this, dirt and bacteria won’t have any chance of accumulating in your brush holder anymore.
