Restroom habits are rarely mentioned, although we use the toilet numerous times every day, without realizing that it can be made more comfortable and beneficial to our health.
How to sit

There are numerous theories regarding how to sit properly on the toilet. Experts recommend the following:

You need to sit on the toilet with your knees higher than your hips. If required, use a footstool or other flat, stable object.
Lean forward, placing your elbows on your knees.
Relax and bulge your stomach.
Straighten your spine.

According to studies, the squatting position is among the best. With your knees bent, the rectoanal canal straightens. This reduces the strain on the body during defecating.

According to studies, sitting makes bowel emptying far more difficult than squatting. Insufficient leg flexion causes the rectoanal canal to be not straight enough, requiring greater effort from you to defecate.

How long to use a toilet
We all spend a certain amount of time on the toilet. Some people try to finish this quickly, while others can stay for an hour.

Sitting on the toilet for too long can cause excessive straining. This, in turn, can put pressure on the rectum, resulting in hemorrhoids. Avoid distractions while using the restroom.

How to flush a toilet properly

There is only one certain technique to flush a toilet properly. This must be done with the seat down and the lid closed. Every flush can release germs from the toilet up to 10 inches above the toilet seat. Then they can settle into the bathroom floor and other surfaces. This is dangerous because the germs and bacteria can spread infectious diseases.

Keeping the toilet lid closed when flushing will help to prevent germs from spreading. But don’t forget to wash your hands after flushing the toilet in this manner. Contaminated water droplets might also be observed on the toilet lid and other surfaces.

How to keep your toilet clean
It is incorrect to believe that once you have flushed the toilet, it becomes clean. Experts advocate using disinfectants for a cleaner flush and cleaning the toilet with chemicals regularly.

Many chemicals can keep your toilet and urinal clean while also protecting them from limescale and bacteria.

Do not forget to clean the toilet seat. If you need to wipe it rapidly, use specialized wipes. However, don’t skip a complete cleaning.

To clean the toilet, gather rubber gloves, paper towels, a cleaning solution, and a pail of warm water.
Pour the cleaning agent into the water and stir.
Dip a paper towel in water, drain out any extra moisture, then wipe both sides of the lid.
Then, clean both sides of the toilet ring in the same manner. If required, add additional cleaner.
Pay special attention to the hard-to-reach areas between the toilet seat hinges.

How to wash your hands correctly

According to one study, over half of people do not always wash their hands after using the restroom, even though doing so can help prevent the spread of diseases such as E. coli and the flu.

How to Wash Your Hands After Using the Toilet:

Turn on the water and wet your hands.
Use soap or a different type of hand wash.
Lather all over your hands and between your fingers.
Wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds.
Remove the soap with clean water.
Dry your hands with a clean cloth or an air dryer.
